Migraine is one of the topmost debilitating illnesses experienced by people across the globe.1

An estimated 148 million people suffer from migraine attacks worldwide.1 The TEMPLE Study is researching the tolerability, safety, and efficacy of an investigational study drug that may or may not help improve or resolve migraine symptoms.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Are between the ages of 18 to 80 years old
  • Have been experiencing migraine for at least 1 year
  • Experience migraine symptoms an average of 4+ days per month
  • Are willing and able to complete daily headache diary

* As a study participant, all study-related care will be provided at no cost to you. Participants may be reimbursed for travel expenses.

What happens if I sign up? We will match you to a research study location in your area that needs volunteers with Migraine or notify you when one becomes available. The study team will then contact you and you may have the opportunity to participate if qualified.

If you think you might like to participate in the TEMPLE Study or would like more information, please enter your information below so we can see if you may qualify and can contact you about the study. Keep in mind that participation is entirely voluntary. If you do decide to take part in a study, you may change your mind about participating at any time.

About Migraine

Migraine is a common condition that can cause significant pain, sensitivity and throbbing/pulsing, usually on one side of the head.  The symptoms of migraine can last hours, or even days and are often disabling. 2

Although migraine is not well understood, it is thought that genetics and environmental factors play a role. There are different triggers for the onset of migraine attacks, such as hormonal changes in women, certain foods, stress, and physical changes such as physical exertion, sexual activity, and sleep patterns. 2,3

For some migraine-sufferers, visual and sensory disturbances called auras may appear before the onset of a migraine attack. Auras usually begin 20-60 minutes before a migraine and may include2,3

  • Visual phenomena (seeing various shapes, bright spots or flashes of light, or even vision loss)
  • Pins and needles sensations in the extremities
  • Weakness or numbness in the face or one side of the body
  • Difficulty speaking

There are treatments available for migraine symptoms (pain, nausea), and treatments that are used to prevent migraine symptoms (pain relievers, anti-seizure medications, cardiovascular drugs, antidepressants).2,3 Unfortunately, there is no known cure for migraine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a clinical research study?

A research study (also called a clinical trial) is a medical study that helps to answer important questions about an investigational drug – these may include how well an investigational study drug works for a certain condition. All medications must be tested in clinical research studies before they can be approved and prescribed to patients.

A research study is the process by which new and innovative medications, interventions and treatments are approved and brought to market, so people can live happier and healthier lives. For example, over-the-counter pain medications, you may have used to counteract a headache, have gone through the clinical research study process before it was available at your local pharmacy.

The TEMPLE Study is researching the tolerability, safety, and efficacy of an investigational study drug that may or may not help improve or resolve migraine symptoms.

The TEMPLE Study will enroll adults with Migraine at approximately 85 centres in Europe, Israel, and Canada.

The study could include up to 19 visits to a study centre near your location over approximately one and a half years. After your first visit and month-long screening period, during which you will complete a daily headache diary, the study is organized into two parts. The first part requires you to take 2 medications daily (one is dummy medication, but you won’t know which one), to continue to fill in your daily headache diary, and complete 12 assessment visits over a 6-month period, 9 at the study center and 3 remote visits. During this shorter, first part of the study you and the site staff will not know if you are taking the study medication or the dummy medication. The second part involves taking a daily tablet of the study medication and returning to the study centre for assessments 5 times in one year. During this second, longer part of the study, you will be taking the study medication. Once you complete your participation in the study you will remain under the remote supervision of the study team for one month and return to the study centre one final time.

Those who qualify to take part in the study may receive reimbursement for travel expenses. Please discuss this with the study team when they contact you.

There is no cost to participate in the TEMPLE Study. If you qualify, you will receive all study-related care from a dedicated medical team at no cost.

The research team will be able to explain more about what the TEMPLE Study will involve, and it is up to you to decide if you want to take part. Participation in this study is voluntary. Whether or not you decide to participate in this study will not affect your current or future relationships with your doctors. If you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw at any time without affecting those relationships.

We match you to a study centre within a close travel distance from your home. If we are not running the study in your area currently, with your permission, we will keep you in our database and reach out once a study in your area becomes available. If, at any time, you decided you no longer want your information stored, you can opt out and we will delete your details.
